KEYS TO THE GAME:
Both teams are still trying to fit in a lot of new pieces, but Maroa seemed to have handled in a lot better in Week 1. Of course, it helps to have the steadying hand of Jack Hockaday in the huddle. He didn't have to do much against Meridian, throwing the ball just eight times. But three of those found their way to the end zone and the Trojans had 49 points by halftime. Eight different Trojans got a chance to run the ball in the opener.
St. Teresa managed to move the ball a bit, finding some success on the ground. But the Bulldogs couldn't make stops in giving up 341 rushing yards. Maroa won last year's game 43-14 – the final game as Okaw Valley rivals. St. Teresa won the series 12-5 while Okaw opponents while Maroa had won four of the last seven. Next year's game at St. Teresa could be the last matchup for a while with the Trojans set to join the Sangamon Conference.
